Bringing Application Functionality to Small Devices W@PNotes
نویسنده
چکیده
User interface (UI) design for ubiquitous computing is different from UI design for classical desktop-oriented applications. Interaction of a user with the system and applications takes place in a highly distributed fashion. Inputand output functionality is distributed over space, as well as time. Human-computer interaction (HCI) has to take place wherever needed and whenever needed. Due to the highly dynamic pattern of use, “classical” UI design for a single screen is poorly suited. This paper presents an architecture for designing applications bringing different inputand output channels to small devices, like mobile phones, as well as taking advantage from the benefits of a desktop computer. The W@PNotes system serves as a proof of concept for the successful use of this architecture.

متن کاملA Lightweight Resource-Oriented Application Framework for Wireless Sensor Networks Master’s Thesis
With current advancements in technology, an increasing number of embedded devices are being deployed around the world to solve dedicated, specific tasks like environmental monitoring or automating control. These resource-constrained devices operate in specialized, low-level physical links. We investigate the use of smart gateways to provide access on the Internet for these devices. These gatewa...
